The EcoHeroes Initiative 2023/2024 is a program designed to empower African youths to identify and address environmental challenges in their communities. The program is open to secondary school students in Africa, and it focuses on three thematic pillars: sustainable energy, sustainable transportation, and climate change.
To participate in the program, students must form teams of 3-5 members and develop a project that addresses one of the three thematic pillars. The project can be anything from a public awareness campaign to a technological innovation. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2023.
Selected teams will receive mentorship support from international and local experts. They will also have the opportunity to present their projects at a regional summit and compete for prizes.
The EcoHeroes Initiative is a great opportunity for African youths to develop their leadership skills, make a difference in their communities, and learn about sustainable development.
Here are some examples of projects that EcoHeroes teams have worked on in the past:
- A team in Ghana developed a solar-powered water filtration system to provide clean water to their community.
- A team in Kenya developed a sustainable transportation system using bicycles and electric vehicles.
- A team in Nigeria developed a public awareness campaign to educate people about the dangers of climate change.
If you are a secondary school student in Africa and you are passionate about making a difference in the environment, I encourage you to apply for the EcoHeroes Initiative 2023/2024.
